Music For Background of Film

We have decided on three certain tracks from a copyright free music cd which the college had with tracks on, we found it quite difficult to find some copyright free music on the internet. We decide on songs which start slow then build up pace towards the end creating a mood for the viewer and causing tension. However one of the tracks is slow all the way through. We wanted music with just a beat in the background, we thought this would suit the style of the film better and it will also be good for an opening where there is no dialougue.

This week i feel that i have progressed quite well, I have helped in doing the video recording, also i have put some effort into editing the video clips we have recorded. I have contributed in looking for some music that will go with the video that we have recorded.

Personal Progress

This week or so i beleive that i have progressed myself with the filming and the blog. We have re done the filming twice this week making ajustments to it to make it better. Aswell i have posted many different things onto the blog and helped with the filming in the scenes that i am not in.
Aswell as this i have helped with editing the film and also chosing the title and music.
We have made progress more towards the end.

Actors

In our film we only actually have two actors. We have only decided to use minimal actors for the reason that we didnt want to complicate anything and we didnt want anything to mess up. With more actors it could cause trouble if people didnt turn upto filming and we didnt want to take the risk with it. So for this reason we have just used ourselves to do the acting and the filming between us.

Sequence and Storyline

Our storyline is simple as we are only doing a opening sequence.
It will start with lewis in a class room writing on a piece of paper, on the piece of paper it will have a list of names and he will be writing over them over and over. Then he will underline the name 'Lily Conchie' asif it is the victim. After this it will then go onto the character of Lily Conchie as she is sat in the canteen, this then introduces the character making it understandable and then the viewer can realise that this is her. After this we will see a view of lily just sitting chatting with friends. Then her phone will ring and it will be from an unknown caller, the phone is answered and it goes back onto her looking confused as to who has phoned her. Then we will see her getting up to go to a class, lewis will follow her on her journey. Once she has gone down a corridor she will reach where she wants to be, then she will go into the room. We will then see lewis following her down the corridor and approaching the room. Then we will see lewis go into the room lock the door then there will be an immediate close up of his eyes creating suspense as the viewer does not know what will happen after as it is only an opening scene, we aim to create tention and make the viewer question what is going to happen next?

Plot and Sequence of the Film

Location

We have previously altered our location for our film now our location is going to be at college, it will take place during the day. It will not all happen in one area of the college so it does not get boring. It will start in the canteen then move around college as lewis follows me about. It will not be a scary setting because we do not want the viewer to notice what is going on from the start of it as it is only an opening scene. Also it will add tention as it does not set the film off with you being able to tell that something scary is going on.

Costume

in our opening sequence just casual colthing will be worn, however one one scence I (the stalker). will be wearing dark clothing with a hood to create the sense of bad things about to happen.

The equipment we will be using.

There are not masses of a equipment that needs to be used in the filming although there are some key things we will need actually in order to do it.
The things that we will need to use are:

The computer, this is to access the blog and upload new posts. Also to upload picture and film to our blog. Aswell we will need to to edit pictures and our film, to add music to it, titles,credits.

We Also need to use a fire wire cable, this allows us to upload our pictures and our filming.

Although the main things we will need to use are;
vidio camera
Battery
Battery charger
Tape
Tripod
the tripod is used for when we do not want to use handhelfd filming

Changes and Challenges to our plans throughout the process.

There we many changes made to our film and plans completely turned upside down throughout the process of making the film. We originally had the idea of making a horror film, we still stuck with this idea throughout even though we did make big changes, these did effect us and cause some dificulties in some ways with time and more work had to be re-done although we managed to get it all on track.

Our initial idea was to do a horror film similar to the 'Blair Witch Project' we were not at all going to base our work on this but use the idea of having it based in a woods at night time with something horrific happening. Our initial idea was to have a group of students out at night camping, then they go onto hearing noises, then there would be a intruder and we would use one of the campers as the victim, being chase through the woods and so on.
Although we then went onto realising that this could not happen due to the way the weather and the time of year that it was. Because it was in the middle of winter the weather was very dark and dreary and the fact that it went dark at four o clock did not help either. The colleges equipment did not cater for outside filimg unless there was a good amount of light as they do not have lights on, so for this reason we had to re think all our ideas for something more appropriate and less risky.
We decided to change our film into a stalker type horror.
It took us quite a few lessons to re arrange everything and think up all of our ideas, a new story board had to be made and a new location had to be found, new props,music,clothign etc all had to be found to work well with the idea of the film.

This did cause some problems for us but i think that our new ideas are just as good and will work great if not better.

Group Progress whilst filming.

Now we have got into begining to take the picture for our film and actually filming i believe that progress is being made, not just on a personal note but with everybody on a whole. When we first started doing filming for example our pre-lim our skills with a still camera and a vidio camera were not very good and this showed in the outcome of our work, although now that we are doing our proper film it is quite clear to see we have made improvements.

At first i did some filming, i was unable to keep the camera still and do close-ups and shot reverse shot, it wasnt done well at all. Now we have made improvements in that through practicing our shots over and over untill we feel we have made one that is good enough.
We have not finished all of our filming and are still doing bit by bit although it is of a noticable better quality. We hope that this will continue as we progress on with the work in order to achieve a good respectable grade.

The filming was not the only downfall in our group work at the start but group commitment and concentration. Although we have begun to take more care in our work and be more sensible in realising that we have deadlines to meet with work at a good quality. For that reason we are improving our group comitment and concentration at all times.

As we continue to film we hope to keep everything up to date and at a good level.

In our film there are not going to be many props being used becuase they are not entirely needed.
We are going to incorporate:

we are using minimal because we dont want to complicate things and make it look messy or anything to go wrong from using too much props.

We decided within our research too look at the top rated films of all time, and what genres they tended to be so we could work out the popularity of the genre we are planning on using.

As you can see above there are not any horror films in the top twenty. This there shows that they are not as popular as other types of films. Although we believed that to create a high quality film like the ones above special effects equiptment would be needed, so for that reason we decided on horror. We believed that a horror film could work as it does not need special effects specifically needed but just something that could scare the viewers which was our initial idea.
